A horrific industrial accident at Vedanta Limited’s Singhitarai thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh’s Sakti district has claimed the lives of at least 16 workers. On Tuesday afternoon (April 14), a boiler tube burst, releasing superheated steam at approximately 600°C onto labourers who were taking their lunch break. While 19 others are battling severe injuries in hospitals across Raigarh and Bilaspur, survivors recount a harrowing scene of smoke and chaos. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai have expressed deep grief, announcing financial compensation for the victims' families.
