# JavaScript Display Tag

The Genuin player inside an iframe-safe wrapper at any IAB display size, so video runs in display inventory.

A JavaScript display tag renders the Genuin player in an iframe-safe wrapper, sized to a standard IAB display unit. It carries the group, experience, and brand kit you choose, plus your buyer's tracking macros. Viewers watch your brand's video in a slot the media plan bought as a banner, and the engagement comes back to your network.

[Octo](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/octo-operates-your-brand-control-center-octo-proposes-you-approve), Genuin's Supervised Intelligence interface in Brand Control Center (BCC), proposes this capability when it finds a fit on your sites and apps. It completes the steps under Set it up from your brand context. Nothing goes live until you approve it. It's part of [Offsite](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/offsite/offsite-what-it-does-and-where-to-start), and [Offsite: generate IAB-standard tags for your media plan](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/offsite-generate-iab-standard-tags-for-your-media-plan) explains how every offsite tag is built and trafficked.

## When to use it

Use it when the inventory is sold as banners rather than video. For video slots and CTV, use the [VAST Video Tag](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/offsite/vast-video-tag) instead. You can generate both formats from the same content.

| Case | What the tag does |
| --- | --- |
| Display media plan | Runs your video in the display slots the plan buys |
| Partner site that sells banners | Fills the partner's banner slots with your video |

## How it works

- The tag renders the Genuin player inside an iframe-safe wrapper, at the IAB size you choose.
- A player card adds 2 px of padding outside the card, so its footprint is the declared size plus 4 px per axis. Offsite tags apply the same footprint rule inside the buyer's slot.
- The content comes from a group, a Quest's winners, a Paid Partner Post, or a [dynamic feed](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/offsite/dynamic-feed-tag) that [Maya](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/supervised-intelligence/supervised-intelligence-what-it-does-and-where-to-start#maya-genuin-s-orchestrator) fills by context.
- Studio's [Adaptation](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/studio/adaptation) re-cuts a published video for another placement size, and offsite tags use those versions.
- Macros carry the buyer's click tracker, the placement ID, and the destination's consent state. [Macro and Consent Passthrough](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/offsite/macro-and-consent-passthrough) covers each one.

## Set it up

Octo proposes the tag with these steps already done. You review the result and confirm it.

1. Create a tag under **Offsite** > **Tags** with the JavaScript format and an IAB size. The [Player card sizes and IAB footprint spec](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/player-card-sizes-and-iab-footprint-spec) lists each size and its footprint.
2. Add macros and the buyer's placement ID. The [Ad tag reference: VAST, IAB sizes, and macros](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/ad-tag-reference-vast-iab-sizes-and-macros) lists every macro.
3. Traffic it as a third-party tag in the DSP, ad server, or partner's trafficking sheet. Learn how in [Offsite: generate IAB-standard tags for your media plan](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/offsite-generate-iab-standard-tags-for-your-media-plan).

## Settings

| Size | Footprint inside the slot |
| --- | --- |
| 300 × 250 | 304 × 254 |
| 300 × 600 | 304 × 604 |
| 320 × 480 | 324 × 484 |
| 728 × 90 | 732 × 94 |
| 970 × 250 | 974 × 254 |

You choose the format and size on each tag when you create it under **Offsite** > **Tags**, without code. The [footprint spec](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/player-card-sizes-and-iab-footprint-spec) explains how the 2 px padding adds up.

## What it reports

**Reports** > **Offsite** shows these metrics for your offsite tags. [Measure engagement: watch time, lift, and cohorts](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/measure-engagement-watch-time-lift-and-cohorts) explains how engagement is counted.

- **Impressions**: each time the tag renders in a buyer's slot.
- **Viewability**: how many impressions were in view.
- **Engagement**: watch time per user per minute, the engagement measure Genuin uses.
- **Clicks**: viewers who click through to your properties.
- **Comparison to VAST by size**: how the same content performs as a display tag and as a [VAST Video Tag](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/offsite/vast-video-tag) at each size.

## Build on it

Brand Control Center generates the tag, so trafficking it needs no code. [Go live with monetization in your feeds, apps, and partner pages](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/sdk/go-live-with-monetization-in-your-feeds-apps-and-partner-pages) covers the live ad surfaces, such as in-feed ads and IAB units rendered from a tag ID in your app. [Receive engagement events in your own analytics](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/sdk/receive-engagement-events-in-your-own-analytics) sends what viewers do in Genuin views to your analytics tool and your warehouse.

The tag calls in the [Business Account API](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/business-account-api-provisioning-oauth-and-the-resource-map) are proposed, not live. [Live API today and the Business Account API roadmap](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/guides/live-api-today-and-the-business-account-api-roadmap) maps what you can call now to what's planned.
