# Genuin Ad Server

Programmatic demand from connected exchanges served into your placements with no ad ops on your side; the default Header Bidding setup reaches them through presets.

Genuin Ad Server is Genuin's programmatic ad server, already connected to exchanges. The default **Header Bidding** setup needs no ad ops work on your side. Ad servers reach your placements and embeds through presets, not one placement at a time. Impressions appear the same day once your sellers are verified.

[Octo](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/octo-operates-your-business-account-octo-proposes-you-approve), Genuin's Supervised Intelligence interface in your Business Account, proposes this capability when it finds a fit on your sites and apps. It completes the steps under Set it up from your brand context. Nothing goes live until you approve it. It's part of [Monetize](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/monetize-what-it-does-and-where-to-start), and [Programmatic: Genuin Ad Server or your partner ad server](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/programmatic-genuin-ad-server-or-your-partner-ad-server) compares the two paths.

## When to use it

Use it if your network has no ad server or no ad ops team. If your ad server holds your direct deals, use [Partner Ad Server Integration](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/partner-ad-server-integration).

| | Genuin Ad Server | Partner ad server |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Pick it when | You want demand without ad ops, or have no ad server | Your ad server holds your direct deals, priorities, and reporting |
| Who traffics | No ad ops: your presets attach the default Header Bidding setup to your placements | You connect your ad server in Demand Settings and select it in your presets |
| Floors and pacing | Set in your Business Account per placement | Set in your ad server; Business Account mirrors them |
| Reporting | Business Account along the grid | Your ad server plus Business Account reconciliation |
| Setup time | Same day once sellers are verified | Three to ten business days |

## How it works

- You choose which deal types run: open auction, private marketplace (PMP), and programmatic guaranteed.
- Floors are set per placement. Business Account proposes them from your brand safety profile and the placement's context.
- Viewability, your brand safety profile, and context pass in each bid request through standard IAB fields. [Ad tag reference: VAST, IAB sizes, and macros](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/ad-tag-reference-vast-iab-sizes-and-macros) lists the formats.
- [Blocklists and Ad Quality](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/blocklists-and-ad-quality) rules apply before any ad renders.
- A stronger brand safety profile, richer context, verified sellers, and viewability all raise what buyers pay.

## Set it up

Octo proposes Genuin Ad Server with these steps already done. You review the result and confirm it.

1. Verify sellers, so buyers can validate your ads.txt and sellers.json. Learn how in [Sign your agreement and authorize sellers](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/sign-agreement) and [Set up ads.txt and sellers.json](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/set-up-ads-txt-and-sellers-json).
2. Keep **Header Bidding**, the default ad server, in each preset under **Settings** > **Ad Configuration**. Then set floors and allowed deal types under **Monetize** > **Programmatic**. Learn how in [Programmatic: Genuin Ad Server or your partner ad server](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/programmatic-genuin-ad-server-or-your-partner-ad-server).
3. Assign the preset to your placements and embeds. Impressions appear in **Reports** > **Revenue** the same day.

## Settings

| Setting | What it controls |
| --- | --- |
| Deal types | Open auction, PMP, and programmatic guaranteed, each allowed or not |
| Floors | The lowest price per placement, proposed from your brand safety profile |
| Brand safety profile | The profile passed in every bid request |

Change floors and deal types under **Monetize** > **Programmatic**. [Floor Pricing and Yield Rules](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/floor-pricing-and-yield-rules) adds rules by partner, deal type, and daypart.

### Ad servers in Demand Settings

In your Business Account, the ad servers that supply ads are set up under **Settings** > **Ad Configuration**, in the **Demand Settings** drawer. **Header Bidding** is the default ad server at first.

**Header Bidding** holds 300+ ad servers you can search and add, with InfyTV as the default server:

- Each server asks for its own fields and applies its own validation.
- A **Custom** option adds a server that isn't listed, with an account name and a VAST or VMAP link.
- Each server can be added once. After that, its **Add** button becomes **Edit**, **Delete**, and an on/off switch.
- A server you switch off stays configured but receives no traffic.
- InfyTV can't be edited or deleted. You can only switch it on or off.
- At least one Header Bidding server is always on. If InfyTV is off and one other server is on, that server is locked: you can't edit, delete, or switch it off.
- All Header Bidding servers share one traffic rate. It's required and can't exceed 100%.

The list shows servers that are on first, then servers that are off, then servers not yet added, each in A to Z order. The **Header Bidding** card shows up to three servers, with the rest as **+N more**.

Each preset lists the ad servers from **Demand Settings**, with **Header Bidding** as a single option. Your default ad server is preselected on new presets.

To change the default, hover over another ad server, click **Set as default**, and confirm. The new default applies only to presets you create afterward.

**Video Ads**, and pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll breaks, fill only when the preset's ad server supports them.

## What it reports

Business Account reports these measures along the grid. [Revenue reporting, payouts, and the Wallet](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/revenue-reporting-payouts-and-the-wallet) explains how revenue is reconciled.

- **eCPM**: the revenue each thousand impressions earned.
- **Fill**: the share of your inventory that demand filled.
- **Viewability**: how much of each served ad viewers could see.
- **Revenue by exchange and deal type**: which exchanges and deals earn the most.

If fill is low, check seller status, floors, blocklist cost, placement sizes, and viewability first.

## Build on it

Ads from Genuin Ad Server are configured in your Business Account, not in code. You add ad server accounts and their tags yourself in **Demand Settings**. [Go live with monetization in your feeds, apps, and partner pages](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/sdk/go-live-with-monetization-in-your-feeds-apps-and-partner-pages) covers ads inside your embeds and IAB units rendered from a tag in your app. [Receive engagement events in your own analytics](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/sdk/receive-engagement-events-in-your-own-analytics) sends viewer activity to your analytics. [Query Genuin event data in BigQuery](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/api/integrate-google-bigquery-with-business-account) runs first queries on campaign events.

The ad server and revenue report calls in the [Business Account API](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/business-account-api-provisioning-oauth-and-the-resource-map) are proposed, not live. [Live API today and the Business Account API roadmap](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/guides/live-api-today-and-the-business-account-api-roadmap) maps what you can call now to what's planned.
