# Shoppable Carousel Placement

A carousel where each video carries products with price, availability, and a buy or add-to-cart action wired to your commerce API through the SDK.

The Shoppable Carousel lets viewers buy from the video they're watching. Each video carries one or more products from your catalog. Supervised Intelligence resolves which products appear from the moments tagged in each video.

[Octo](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/octo-operates-your-brand-control-center-octo-proposes-you-approve), Genuin's Supervised Intelligence interface in Brand Control Center (BCC), proposes this capability when it finds a fit on your sites and apps. It completes the steps under Set it up from your brand context. Nothing goes live until you approve it. It's part of [Onsite](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/onsite/onsite-what-it-does-and-where-to-start), and [Player experiences](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/player-experiences-shorts-shoppable-community-and-live) compares Shoppable with the other experiences.

## When to use it

Use it on product detail pages, category pages, brand homepages, and post-purchase pages.

| Page type | Where it goes | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Product detail | Beside the gallery or under the buy box | Answers "how does it look in use" |
| Category | Between rows one and two of the grid | Products in motion next to products in stills |
| Homepage | Below the first fold, full width, with the [Vertical Video Player](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/onsite/vertical-video-player-placement) | Discovery without pushing the hero down |

[Onsite contextual placements](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/onsite-contextual-placements-across-homepage-category-and-product-pages) shows the full layout for each page type.

## How it works

- Your connected catalog supplies each product's price and availability.
- Studio tags moments in each video, such as products, places, and mentions. You can edit the tags.
- At serve time, Supervised Intelligence matches each tagged moment to your catalog, a partner's catalog, or an affiliate network. It uses the placement's context, the viewer's cohort, and availability.
- On product detail pages, you can pre-select the SKUs to show instead.
- The action calls your own checkout when it's connected, and an affiliate link otherwise. [Dynamic in-video linkouts and affiliate commerce](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/dynamic-in-video-linkouts-and-affiliate-commerce) explains how linkouts resolve.
- Each click and conversion is attributed, then reported with revenue and net margin.

## Set it up

Octo proposes the placement with these steps already done. You review the result and confirm it.

1. Connect the product catalog, and allow the Shoppable experience on the placement. Learn how in [Connect your website, app, and podcast feed](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/connect-properties) and [Pick your first player experience](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/pick-player-experience).
2. Pre-select SKUs on product detail pages, or let Supervised Intelligence resolve products from tagged moments. Learn how in [Dynamic In-Video Linkout](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/dynamic-in-video-linkout).
3. Connect your checkout under **Monetize** > **Commerce**, or use affiliate links. Learn how in [Affiliate Commerce](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/affiliate-commerce).

## Settings

| Setting | Value |

| Checkout | Your checkout handler, registered through the SDK, or affiliate links |
| Default checkout behavior | Your checkout, partner checkout, or affiliate, per placement |
| Linkout rules | Minimum margin, excluded products, and the partner catalogs allowed to resolve |

Connect catalogs, checkout, and affiliate networks under **Monetize** > **Commerce**. [Dynamic In-Video Linkout](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/dynamic-in-video-linkout) covers the per-placement rules.

## What it reports

**Reports** > **Attribution** shows outcomes for each placement and each video. [Attribution](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/attribution-closed-loop-commerce-and-conversion-forecasts) explains how clicks and purchases are credited, and [Margin reporting](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/margin-reporting-revenue-per-impression-and-net-margin-on-ad-spend) explains net margin.

- **Linkout clicks**: clicks on a product's linkout.
- **Add-to-cart**: products added to a cart from a video.
- **Attributed revenue**: sales credited to the placement and the video.
- **Net margin**: revenue after cost, for each placement and each video.

## Add it to your site

The Web SDK renders this placement today. [Embed the Genuin Web SDK on your website](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/sdk/how-do-you-embed-and-configure-the-genuin-web-sdk-on-your-website) covers loading the script, and [Add a Genuin placement to your website](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/sdk/how-do-you-configure-the-genuin-web-sdk-placement-on-your-website) covers the placement and style IDs. [Customize the Genuin video player](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/control/how-does-a-brand-customize-the-genuin-video-player-controls) sets sizes, tile layouts, and the profile menu.

[Go live with monetization in your feeds, apps, and partner pages](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/sdk/go-live-with-monetization-in-your-feeds-apps-and-partner-pages) covers the live ad surfaces in your feeds.

The placement and linkout calls in the [Business Account API](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/business-account-api-provisioning-oauth-and-the-resource-map) are proposed, not live. [Live API today and the Business Account API roadmap](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/guides/live-api-today-and-the-business-account-api-roadmap) maps what you can call now to what's planned.
