# Monetize: what it does and where to start

Monetize earns more margin on every impression across your O&O, whether you're a publisher, a retail media network, or a commerce brand. Brand partners, programmatic buyers, members, and shoppers all pay into the same placements, and every source reports what each impression earned after cost.

Genuin network demand is your floor from day one, with no sales team or ad server. Demand from across the Genuin network runs in your placements, and you keep a share. From there you add the sources that fit your business, and each one reports into the same view, so you compare them on revenue, attributed commerce, and net margin.

If you're a publisher, retail and commerce media networks bring new demand to your inventory, at a higher margin per impression. They buy your [packages](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/packages-sell-outcomes-to-brands-and-demand-partners), each priced to the outcome it forecasts, and also buy through Paid Partner Posts and programmatic. [Media demand aggregators](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/media-demand-aggregators-route-your-advertisers-demand-into-the-genuin-network) explains how their demand enters the network.

[Extended O&O](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/extended-o-o-how-managed-syndication-works-end-to-end) works from both sides: publishers host Extended O&O destinations; brands, retailers, and publishers' own media brands run them. If you're a publisher, it's what connects you to that demand. Retailers and brands run their destinations on your pages as a managed service that Genuin operates and sells, so you earn from their budgets without building a sales team.

If you run a retail media network or a commerce brand, margin is the goal too. The Retail model prices every impression to margin, with your own ad server, blocklists, and attribution as the system of record. The Commerce model turns your audience and first-party data into shoppable impressions. [Margin reporting](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/margin-reporting-revenue-per-impression-and-net-margin-on-ad-spend) shows what each impression earned after cost, and the net margin each dollar of partner spend returned.

You don't set up each source from scratch. [Octo](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/octo-operates-your-brand-control-center-octo-proposes-you-approve), Genuin's Supervised Intelligence interface in Brand Control Center (BCC), proposes the monetization agreement that fits your network model and partners. It also drafts packages priced against your floors and brand safety profile. Money never moves on a change you didn't approve. Read [Monetization models on Genuin: a decision guide](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/monetization-models-on-genuin-a-decision-guide) first to decide which sources to switch on.

Genuin network demand is your floor from day one: demand from across the Genuin network runs in your placements, and you keep a share. From there you add the sources that fit your business: brand partners, through Paid Partner Posts and Takeovers; programmatic buyers, through Genuin Ad Server or your own ad server; package buyers, such as retail, commerce, and agency buyers; members, through subscriptions and paid access; and shoppers, through linkouts and affiliate commerce. All of them run in, or pay into, the same placements across your O&O. ## Get started

1. [Choose your monetization agreement](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/choose-monetization-agreement). The agreement decides how money flows and which sources BCC offers you.
2. [Sign your agreement and authorize sellers](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/sign-agreement). Demand can't serve until your payout details and ads.txt are verified.
3. [Activate monetization and see your first revenue](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/activate-monetization). Switch on demand and find your first numbers in Reports.

## Choose demand sources

Genuin network demand is your floor from day one. Add the rest in the order that fits you. A creator adds subscriptions; a publisher adds brand partners, programmatic, and packages; and a brand or retailer can run all six.

| Source | Capability | How it earns | Where it fits |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Genuin network demand | [Genuin Network Revenue Share](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/genuin-network-revenue-share) | Demand from across the Genuin network runs in your placements, and you keep a share, with no setup beyond seller verification | Every network, from day one |
| Brand partners | [Paid Partner Post](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/paid-partner-post) | A brand's video placed in your group with a disclosure label | Brand partnerships and endemic brands in category groups |
| Brand partners | [Paid Partner Takeover](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/paid-partner-takeover) | A partner's content fills a placement or group for a fixed window | Launch days, seasons, and event sponsorships |
| Programmatic buyers | [Genuin Ad Server](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/genuin-ad-server) | Programmatic demand from connected exchanges, with no ad ops on your side | Networks without an ad server or an ad ops team |
| Programmatic buyers | [Partner Ad Server Integration](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/partner-ad-server-integration) | Your ad server stays the system of record and receives Genuin inventory as line items | Publishers and retailers with direct deals in an ad server such as GAM or FreeWheel |
| Package buyers, including retail and commerce media networks | [Packages](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/packages-sell-outcomes-to-brands-and-demand-partners) | Buyers and AI buyer agents purchase packages of your groups, placements, and tags, each with an outcome forecast | Publishers and networks selling to retail, commerce, and agency buyers |
| Members | [Subscriptions and Paid Access](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/subscriptions-and-paid-access) | Members pay for premium groups, a community, or a live event | Content people pay for, and bundles with plans you already sell |
| Shoppers | [Dynamic In-Video Linkout](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/dynamic-in-video-linkout) | Supervised Intelligence attaches a product or offer to a tagged moment at serve time | Catalog-driven brands and retailers |
| Shoppers | [Affiliate Commerce](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/affiliate-commerce) | Linkouts resolve to affiliate networks or partner catalogs | Media brands without a catalog of their own |

## Sell packages

What you sell in a package is an outcome, not a slot. A package bundles groups, placements, windows, offsite tags, and audience extension with a forecast of the views, engagement, commerce, and net margin it delivers. It's priced to that outcome rather than to CPM and reconciled against the forecast at delivery. Buyers request packages from their own Brand Control Center (BCC), and AI buyer agents find them over AdCP. [Packages: sell outcomes to brands and demand partners](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/packages-sell-outcomes-to-brands-and-demand-partners) covers the full model.

- [Margin reporting](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/margin-reporting-revenue-per-impression-and-net-margin-on-ad-spend): price packages to the outcome and net margin they deliver, not to CPM. Tags inside a package, such as the Audience Extension Tag, are still bought at programmatic CPMs; that's the cost of the impressions underneath.

## Protect yield and quality

- [Floor Pricing and Yield Rules](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/floor-pricing-and-yield-rules): floors per placement, with rules by deal type, partner, and time of day.
- [Canvas Monetization Fleet](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/supervised-intelligence/canvas-monetization-fleet): Pricer and Yield manager agents move floors and package prices with margin, inside the bounds you set, and the Packager builds and lists packages.
- [Blocklists and Ad Quality](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/blocklists-and-ad-quality): advertiser, category, creative, and landing-page rules applied before any ad renders.

## Report and pay out

- [Margin reporting](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/margin-reporting-revenue-per-impression-and-net-margin-on-ad-spend): what each impression earned after cost, by placement and partner. Retailers and brands also see the net margin each dollar of partner spend returned.
- [Revenue reporting and payouts](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/revenue-reporting-payouts-and-the-creator-wallet): daily revenue by placement and source, reconciled monthly against your agreement.
- [Creator Wallet and Revenue Share](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/creator-wallet-and-revenue-share): creator shares, Quest rewards, and tips settle into each creator's wallet.

## Build it

Ads serve into Genuin feeds without extra code. [How the Genuin SDK places ads in a feed](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/how-does-the-genuin-sdk-render-ads-and-deliver-the-consumer-experience) explains slots, breaks, and fallbacks. To show IAB Standard Size Experiences from a tag in your app, start with [Go live with monetization in your feeds, apps, and partner pages](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/sdk/go-live-with-monetization-in-your-feeds-apps-and-partner-pages). Then add the IAB Standard Size Experience SDK for [iOS](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/sdk/integrate-the-genuin-ad-sdk-for-ios), [Android](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/sdk/integrate-the-genuin-ad-sdk-for-android), or [React Native](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/sdk/integrate-ads-with-react-native-sdk).

The demand, package, and payout calls in the [Business Account API](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/business-account-api-provisioning-oauth-and-the-resource-map) are proposed, not live. [Live API today and the Business Account API roadmap](https://begenuin.com/developers/developer-resources/guides/live-api-today-and-the-business-account-api-roadmap) maps what you can call now to what's planned.
