# Create an ad creative for partner pages

Package up to 10 approved posts as a 300×600 or 300×250 video unit with a call to action and tracking, then hand the code to a media partner or ad server.

An ad creative is a set of posts from the communities and groups you manage, rendered as a vertical video unit in a standard IAB size. A partner places the generated code on their page or loads it in Google Ad Manager. Genuin's offsite script then plays the videos with your call-to-action button and reports impressions, watch time, and clicks back to your Business Account.

Ad creatives are part of Offsite, which extends your O&O to partner pages and media plans. For the product as a whole, see [Offsite: what it does and where to start](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/offsite/offsite-what-it-does-and-where-to-start). For how creator consent and revenue share work when posts run on partner pages, see [Creator Content on Partner Pages](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/offsite/creator-content-on-partner-pages).

For a paid placement proposed to another brand, with a CPM and a budget, use an IAB Standard Tag instead. The two are compared at the end of this page.

## How an ad creative works on a partner page

The unit follows Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) conventions, so partners can run it without a custom integration:

- **Standard sizes.** 300×600 (Half Page) and 300×250 (Medium Rectangle) are IAB display sizes. Learn more in [Ad tag reference: VAST, IAB sizes, and macros](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/ad-tag-reference-vast-iab-sizes-and-macros).
- **Standard creative format.** The code is an HTML5 creative that reports its click-through through Google's Exit API.
- **One tracking model everywhere.** Impressions, watch time, completion, engagement, and call-to-action clicks report to the same Business Account analytics in every environment.
- **Partner-safe playback.** The unit keeps to the size you set, autoplays muted, and plays only approved posts.

Partners can place the code on desktop web pages, mobile web pages, in-app webviews, publisher CMS integrations, and partner-owned content pages.

The flow runs in five stages:

1. You configure the ad creative in your Business Account.
2. Genuin applies its playback and tracking rules to the unit.
3. The media partner places the code in their environment.
4. The offsite script tracks impressions, engagement, and interactions the same way in every environment.
5. Reporting flows back into the creative's analytics in your Business Account.

## Create an ad creative

You need up to 10 approved posts, the size the partner accepts, and a URL for each post's call-to-action button.

1. In your Business Account, go to **Grow** > **Off Site** > **Ad Creatives**.
   ![The Off Site tab under Grow in your Business Account, with the Ad Creatives list of 300×600 cards and + New Ad highlighted, beside analytics tiles for Last quarter.](https://cdn.sanity.io/images/lnrtvsvr/development/54e49211792d8bf8b9dddd3838714a9367773eb8-1877x912.jpg)
   *Step 1: Ad Creatives lists every creative beside its analytics, with + New Ad to start one.*
2. Click **+ New Ad**.
3. On **Select Posts**, search by keyword or filter by community and group.
4. Select the posts to include. You can select up to 10 posts; at the 11th, Business Account asks you to deselect one first.
5. Click **Next**.

### Add details to each post

On **Additional Details**, each selected post gets a row. Drag the rows to set the play order, then fill in each column.

| Column | What it does | Limit |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Ad Copy | Text shown with the video | 60 characters |
| Call-to-Action | The button's Text and the Link it opens | 24 characters of text; a valid URL |
| Fetch Metadata | Replaces your ad copy with the title of the linked page | None |
| Hashtags | Tags shown with the video | Up to 3 |
| Pixel URL | A tracking pixel requested when the ad is viewed, for conversion and interaction tracking in your own system | A valid URL |

![The Additional Details step: a table with one post thumbnail and columns for Ad Copy, Call-to-Action text and link, a Fetch Metadata checkbox, Hashtags, and Pixel URL, with Cancel and Next buttons.](https://cdn.sanity.io/images/lnrtvsvr/development/885ab9874cd1643c8ce8d4733a39c81cc00c2201-1875x910.jpg)
*Each selected post gets its own ad copy, call to action, hashtags, and pixel.*

When the rows are complete, click **Next**.

### Customize the unit

1. Enter a name for the ad.
2. Under **Tracking Details**, enter your **Google Tag Manager ID** to load your container with the creative for performance tracking.
3. Under **Edit Ad Creative**, choose the **Size**: **300×600** or **300×250**.
4. Choose a **Button Delay** to show the call-to-action button **Immediately**, or **3 seconds**, **4 seconds**, or **5 seconds** after playback starts.

   *Step 4: Tracking Details and Edit Ad Creative set the tag manager container, size, and button delay.*
5. Under **View Details**, select **Redirect to Profile** to let a viewer tap through to the poster's profile.
6. Select **Enable Engagement Tools** to show **Repost**, **Spark**, **Comments**, and **Share** on the unit.
7. Under **Media Play**, select **Autoplay Video** to start playback on load, muted, with a tap to unmute.
8. Click **Create**, or **Save and Update** when you edit an existing ad.

   *Step 8: View Details and Media Play control redirects, engagement tools, and autoplay.*

Each post also has a fit setting, **Fit to Height**, **Fit to Width**, or fill, for videos whose shape doesn't match the unit. The preview on the left shows the unit at its size, with desktop and mobile frames.

## Place the creative

Click **View Code** on the creative to copy its code. The code is a small HTML page: a container with the creative's ID, Genuin's offsite script, and Google's Exit API for click reporting.

```html title="Ad creative code"
<script src="https://tpc.googlesyndication.com/pagead/gadgets/html5/api/exitapi.js"></script>
<div class="gen-ext" data-tag-id="{{AD_CREATIVE_ID}}" style="width: 300px; height: 600px;"></div>
<script src="<<GENUIN_OFFSITE_SDK_URL>>" defer></script>
<script>
  document.addEventListener('click', function (e) {
    if (e.target.closest('[data-cta="true"]') && typeof ExitApi !== 'undefined') ExitApi.exit();
  });
</script>
```

Copy the code from the panel rather than retyping it, because it carries the creative's ID and the current script URL. The container's width and height are the size you chose.

When a partner uploads the code as an HTML5 creative in Google Ad Manager or DoubleClick Studio, the call-to-action click reports through the Exit API as the creative's click-through. On a plain partner page, the same code works without an ad server.

### Prepare the partner

Agree on these points with the media partner before launch to reduce reporting discrepancies and speed up approval:

1. Share the creative's size and placement guidelines with the partner.
2. Confirm the partner's autoplay policy for each environment.
3. Validate tracking with a test placement.
4. Agree on reporting expectations.

Some tracking features need the partner's consent before they run. For the consent strings that offsite tags pass through, see [Macro and Consent Passthrough](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/offsite/macro-and-consent-passthrough).

## Manage and measure ad creatives

Each card in the list shows the ad's name, how many posts it holds, and its size. The **...** menu offers **Edit Ad** and **Deactivate**.

**Deactivate** stops the creative: the code stops rendering wherever it's placed, and its analytics stay available. **Reactivate** turns it back on, and tracking resumes. You can't delete an ad creative.

To read results, pick a creative, or none for all of them, and a date range. By default, the range is the last quarter. The tiles report:

- **Tag impressions**
- **Spending**
- **Total watch time**, in hours
- **Unique users**
- **Video Impressions**
- **Engagement rate**
- **Video Completion rate**
- **CTAs**, the call-to-action clicks

## Ad creatives and IAB Standard Tags

Both live under **Grow** > **Off Site**, and both play your posts outside your own properties. They differ in who places the unit and who pays.

| | Ad creative | IAB Standard Tag |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Where it runs | Any partner page or ad server you give the code to | A destination brand you're connected to through Network, who accepts your proposal |
| Posts | Up to 10, with ad copy, call to action, hashtags, and pixel per post | Up to 10, or a VAST tag only |
| Sizes | 300×600, 300×250 | 300×600, 300×250, 320×100, 320×50 |
| Commercials | None set in your Business Account | CPM of 10 to 1,000 USD per thousand 3-second views, budget of 10 to 1,000,000 USD and higher than the CPM, start and end dates at least 24 hours apart |
| Lifecycle | Active or deactivated | Draft, proposal sent, pending approval, scheduled, live, paused, finished, expired, or rejected; can't be deleted once scheduled or live |
| Extra settings | None | Enable Ad Expansion, Enable IntelligenceGPT, Auto-Advance Playback |

For IAB-standard tags in a media plan, see [Offsite: generate IAB-standard tags for your media plan](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/offsite-generate-iab-standard-tags-for-your-media-plan).

## Limitations

- **10 posts per creative.** At the 11th post, Business Account asks you to deselect one.
- **Two sizes.** Ad creatives come in 300×600 and 300×250. The 320-wide mobile sizes exist only for IAB Standard Tags.
- **One size per creative.** A partner who runs the other size needs a second creative.
- **Text limits.** Ad copy takes up to 60 characters, button text up to 24 characters, and up to 3 hashtags.
- **No delete.** Deactivate a creative you no longer need.
- **Muted autoplay.** Browsers block autoplay with sound, and autoplay rules differ by browser and operating system. The viewer taps to unmute.
- **Partner consent.** Some tracking features need the partner's consent.
