# Get up and running with Monetize

Learn how to launch Monetize by deploying the Genuin experience, choosing revenue models and a demand source, turning on onsite and extended monetization, and tracking revenue.

Monetize lets retailers and publishers turn their social experience into a curated, high-engagement content layer, a premium media surface, and a new revenue channel. You deploy a monetizable video experience across your owned properties and your extended properties, and you earn more margin on every impression.

For the whole product, see [Monetize: what it does and where to start](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/monetize-what-it-does-and-where-to-start). For every way to earn, see [ways to monetize your network](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/what-are-the-different-ways-to-monetize-my-network).

## Deploy the Genuin experience

Activate these parts of the Genuin experience:

- The community video feed.
- The category structure. Learn more about [brand categories and topics](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/business-account/how-do-i-set-up-brand-categories-and-topics).
- Placement zones: In-Feed, In-Stream, and Partnered Takeover. Learn more about [placements](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/onsite/how-a-brand-can-get-started-with-placements-in-business-account).

These become monetizable inventory as soon as they're live.

You build placements and embeds in **Grow** > **On Site**. They carry paid partnerships only once they're assigned to an active preset in **Settings** > **Ad Configuration**.

*Each placement gets a size and a view before it carries ads.*

## Choose revenue models

You can enable one or more revenue models:

| Revenue model | Activation |
| --- | --- |
| Vertical Video Ads (IAB-compliant) | Direct or programmatic |
| Branded Access | Takeovers or category exclusives |
| Subscription Access | Paid highlight rights |
| Extended Network | Audience extension |

Learn more about [vertical video ad specifications](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/what-are-the-specifications-for-vertical-video-ads), [Paid Partner Takeover](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/paid-partner-takeover), and [Subscriptions and Paid Access](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/subscriptions-and-paid-access).

## Configure the demand source

You don't have to pick a single demand source. You can combine paid partnerships, which Genuin delivers directly, with one or more ad servers.

### Internal brand profiles

Internal brand profiles deliver directly through Genuin's infrastructure:

- Genuin delivers sponsored posts directly.
- You don't need an ads.txt file.
- You don't need a sellers.json file.

### Third-party ad server

A third-party ad server delivers the ads from outside Genuin:

- You need to set up ads.txt and sellers.json.
- Deal ID activation is supported.
- The 300×250 and 300×600 sizes are supported.
- Audio is supported on desktop and mobile web.

Learn more about [Partner Ad Server Integration](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/partner-ad-server-integration).

In **Settings** > **Ad Configuration** > **Demand Settings**, you add three kinds of ad server: **Google Ad Manager (GAM)**, **Pangle**, and **Header Bidding**. Header Bidding gives you 300+ ad servers, with InfyTV as the default.

Each preset then uses the ad servers you choose for it. The default ad server is preselected on new presets.

## Turn on onsite monetization

On your owned properties, enable the formats you want:

- Sponsored Placement: Partnered Takeover.
- Sponsored Placement: Pinned First Position. Learn more about [top positions and featured spots](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/how-can-a-brand-offer-and-monetize-exclusive-top-positions-or-featured-spots-within-communities-and-groups).
- Category Sponsorship, with an exclusive SOV (share of voice). Learn more about [category and topic takeovers](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/how-can-a-brand-monetize-category-and-topic-level-takeovers-across-communities).
- Programmatic: In-Stream, as pre-roll, mid-roll, or post-roll.
- Programmatic: In-Feed Vertical Ads. Learn more about [setting up programmatic ads](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/how-do-we-set-up-programmatic-ads-to-generate-automated-ad-revenue).

These formats monetize traffic you already control.

You turn these formats on in a preset under **Settings** > **Ad Configuration**: **In-Feed**, **In-Stream**, and **Partnered Takeover**. In-stream ads come as **Pre-roll**, **Mid-roll**, and **Post-roll**.

Each programmatic ad type appears only if the selected ad server supports it, even when its toggle is on.

*Onsite formats earn from the traffic you already have.*

## Extend beyond your own properties

To grow inventory without growing traffic, enable:

- Extended Sponsored Placement (In-Network).
- Programmatic Extended O&O (owned and operated). Learn more about [Extended O&O Destinations](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/network/extended-o-o-destinations).
- PG/PMP Audience Extension. Learn more about the [Audience Extension Tag](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/offsite/audience-extension-tag).

These turn on network-level revenue.

## Turn on reporting

Track these metrics:

- CPM.
- Completion.
- Revenue.
- Demand source performance.
- Category performance.

Learn more about [Track programmatic ad performance](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/what-analytics-are-available-for-programmatic-advertising-on-genuin) and about [tracking sponsorship campaigns](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/monetize/how-do-i-manage-and-track-sponsorship-campaigns-in-the-business-account).

In your Business Account, the **Report** module's **View** tab shows video view counts, monetization earnings, and growth metrics.

**Monetize** > **Programmatic** is the dashboard for reporting on and managing programmatic advertising.

*The Ad Server dashboard tracks inventory, impressions, revenue, CPM, CTR, and completion.*

This setup positions your inventory as OTT-like premium supply and OLV (online video) inventory: a rich media surface that's contextually aligned.

## Revenue sources once you're live

Once everything is activated, you earn from:

- Premium sponsorships.
- Programmatic demand.
- Subscription access.
- Network extensions.
- Category ownership.

Monetize brings all of these revenue sources together in one place.
