# Sync videos between social media and Genuin

Learn how to import videos from connected social accounts with Social Import, review and publish them to communities and groups, and post approved videos back to social platforms.

Social Import syncs videos from supported social platforms into Genuin Studio, where they enter one workflow for moderation, curation, and publishing. Social platforms don't give you ownership, control, or first-party data. Social Import brings their content into your social experience, where you decide what runs on your web and app properties.

Imported videos are never auto-published. Each one passes AI moderation and human review, you can edit, clip, or enhance it before posting, and Genuin distributes it only to the communities and placements you approve.

Use Social Import to extend the life of high-performing campaign videos inside your social experience, or to collect creator posts from social, review them in one place, and republish them. You can also use social as a source while you drive engagement into your app.

Social Import is part of content curation in Brand Control Center (BCC), under the rules that Control sets for every post. For the product as a whole, see [Control: what it does and where to start](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/control/control-what-it-does-and-where-to-start).

## Sources you can import from

Your plan and permissions set which of these sources you can import from:

- Brand-owned social accounts
- Creator or partner accounts, when you have access to them
- Campaign-specific social handles

Each import brings in the video file or link, its captions and description, and basic engagement metadata for sources that support it.

## Connect your social accounts

1. In Brand Control Center, go to **Curate** > **Activity** > **+ New Post** > **Social Import**.
2. Authenticate and connect your approved social accounts.
![Curate > Activity > Import Videos with three source cards, Social Import (highlighted), Uploads, and Clip it, above videos awaiting posting, grouped by community and group.](https://cdn.sanity.io/images/lnrtvsvr/development/56389a04c4abf5d1d63181062b0492368e6f3b0e-1874x911.jpg)
*Step 2: Social Import is one of three ways to bring videos in, next to Uploads and Clip it.*

You decide which platforms are connected, which accounts or handles are allowed, and who can manage imports.

## Set import rules

Import rules define how Genuin ingests social content. You can set:

- Auto-fetch or manual import
- The content types allowed (video only)
- The import frequency, within each platform's own limits
- The default community or group suggestions for imported videos
![Curate > Activity > Import Videos > Social Import with the Sports Gear Guide community and 3 groups selected, a Manage handles link, and the Samsung handle checked under Consumer Brands (21).](https://cdn.sanity.io/images/lnrtvsvr/development/3d3173044a4026c8f6b82899d82acbbb123f5abf-1872x910.jpg)
*Pick the community and groups for imported videos, then the handles to import from.*

To import on a recurring schedule, see [scheduler configuration](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/control/scheduler-in-brand-control-center).

## Review and moderate imported videos

All imported videos appear in **Curate** > **Activity**, tagged *Social Import*. Each video moves through these states, and no video skips review:

- Processing
- Awaiting to post
- Approved or rejected
![Curate > Activity with Awaiting to post (965) highlighted next to Processing, Approved, and Rejected, and a Walmart import of 303 videos tagged Social Import.](https://cdn.sanity.io/images/lnrtvsvr/development/fd85cb65216355cfdf32cad68ea92030e84163cc-1874x910.jpg)
*Imported videos wait under Awaiting to post, tagged Social Import.*

Genuin moderates each video in three layers:

- AI checks for safety, compliance, and quality.
- Your brand rules and community guidelines.
- Human editorial review.

When you review an imported video, you can:

- Approve it.
- Reject it with a reason.
- Move it to a different community.
- Edit its metadata or captions.

*Approve, move, or reject imported videos from the Activity list.*

## Publish to communities and groups

You can post approved videos to:

- AI-generated or manual communities
- Topic-specific groups
- App feeds and web placements

You choose where each video goes; an algorithm doesn't. Learn more about [AI-generated communities and groups](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/control/how-to-add-or-curate-content-in-communities-or-groups).

*Each approved video names the community and group it goes to.*

## Post approved videos to social platforms (Optional)

Outbound sharing is optional and governed. Use it for brand amplification, campaign distribution, and creator collaborations. Outbound posting requires connected social accounts.

![Getting Started > Publish Brand Community > Outbound Communications, step 3 of 4, with Email, SMS, and In-App Push tabs, Service Provider set to Genuin, and steps to white-label the email sender.](https://cdn.sanity.io/images/lnrtvsvr/development/2272f2f9b8306f7b70befa0f9964374bc41edf3d-1860x918.jpg)
*Outbound Communications sets the providers for email, SMS, and push messages, not social posts.*

1. Select approved content in Genuin Studio.
2. Choose the connected social platforms to post to.
3. Customize the caption for each platform.
4. Publish through the social integrations.

Outbound posts link back to your owned properties. For a guided setup that posts to your hub first and then to other platforms, see [Post to your hub, then curate and schedule to other platforms](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/any-business/post-curate-schedule).

## Permissions and governance

Across inbound and outbound flows, Genuin enforces:

- Role-based access. Learn more about [Business Account Roles and Scoped Roles](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/control/business-account-roles-and-scoped-roles).
- Platform-specific permissions.
- Rights and usage controls.
- Full activity logs. Learn more about the [audit log](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/control/audit-log-two-factor-and-sso-for-bcc).

AI helps you work at scale, and people make every publishing decision.

## Limitations

- **Import frequency**: each platform's own limits cap how often you can import.
- **Metadata**: the metadata you get differs by source.
- **Outbound posting**: requires connected social accounts.
- **Moderation**: every imported video must pass moderation before it's published.
