# Set up automatic content approval

Define brand guidelines, community guidelines, and trusted contributor rules so content that passes every check publishes without waiting for manual review.

Automatic approval lets content that meets your rules publish without a moderator reviewing each post. You define brand guidelines, community rules, and platform policies once. Genuin checks each submission against these predefined approval rules. Content that meets them is published immediately, and the rest goes to the moderation queue.

As your social experience grows, brands, creators, merchants, and users might post hundreds or thousands of videos, posts, and campaign assets across many communities. Automatic approval keeps that volume safe and on-brand, and approved content flows straight into community feeds, placements, and monetization surfaces.

Automatic approval suits networks where creators or merchants post regularly, where you run sponsored campaigns or subscription-based posting programs, where communities receive high volumes of video submissions, or where content runs across multiple placements and partners. Moderation rules belong to Control; for the whole product, see [Control: what it does and where to start](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/control/control-what-it-does-and-where-to-start).

## How automatic approval works

Genuin checks each submission against three layers of rules, in this order:

1. **Brand guidelines**: your brand and campaign standards.
2. **Community guidelines**: the posting standards of the community the content is posted to.
3. **Platform policies**: the safety and compliance rules that apply to every post.

If the content passes all three, Genuin approves it and publishes it across the selected placements. If any check fails, the content goes to the moderation queue for a moderator. Learn more about the queue in [Moderation Baselines and Queue](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/control/moderation-baselines-and-queue), and about how AI checks each post in [How AI works in Brand Control Center](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/supervised-intelligence/adaptive-genuin-intelligence-for-brand-control-center).

### Brand guidelines

Brand guidelines keep content aligned with your brand and campaign standards. Checks include approved logos and product mentions, prohibited claims or messaging, campaign-specific creative requirements, and allowed hashtags or campaign tags.

| Rule type | Example |
| --- | --- |
| Brand keywords | Must include the campaign hashtag |
| Prohibited terms | No competitor mentions |
| Creative format | Vertical video required |
| Brand safety | No explicit or unsafe content |

Content that meets these rules can be approved instantly for brand campaigns or sponsored placements. To keep exclusions consistent across content and ads, see [Keyword and Topic Blocklists](https://begenuin.com/developers/browse-by-products/control/keyword-and-topic-blocklists).

### Community guidelines

Each community can define its own posting standards, which protect its tone and relevance. Common rules cover topic relevance (for example, restaurant reviews only), content format (video or text), minimum quality thresholds, and creator eligibility.

| Community | Automatic approval criteria |
| --- | --- |
| Local Food Group | Must feature a restaurant or dish |
| Fitness Community | Must include workout or training content |
| Product Review Group | Must reference a product experience |

Content that meets a community's rules can publish immediately in that group's feed.

### Platform policies

Platform policies apply to every post across the network: copyright protection, no offensive or harmful material, no spam or misleading claims, and compliance with advertising policies. They keep trust across creators, advertisers, and customers.

## Define your brand guidelines

Brand guidelines are the first check. Write them for the requirements campaign content has to meet.

1. In Brand Control Center (BCC), go to **Settings** > **Brand Guidelines**.
2. Click **+ Add guidelines** to add a rule, or click **Edit** to change the list.
![The Brand Guidelines page under Settings, listing numbered rules such as No self promotion, Be respectful, Be kind, and Be genuine, with Edit and + Add guidelines buttons.](https://cdn.sanity.io/images/lnrtvsvr/development/eea19b7c62f70919581a4aa96025279624a57cea-1600x778.jpg)
*Step 2: Add a rule with + Add guidelines or change the list with Edit.*
3. Add rules for required campaign hashtags, approved messaging, creative format requirements, and restricted product claims.

These rules keep sponsored campaigns compliant and consistent. Learn more in [Set up brand guidelines](https://begenuin.com/developers/get-started/brand-control-center/how-do-i-set-up-brand-guidelines).

## Set community posting guidelines

Each community can define its own criteria for auto-approved content, so it keeps its identity while it scales.

1. Go to **Manage** > **Communities** and open the community.
2. Select **General**.
3. Under **Community Guidelines**, click **+ Create Guidelines**. Use the template or start from scratch.
![A community's General tab in Brand Control Center, with the Who can create Groups setting, the Community Guidelines section and its + Create Guidelines button highlighted, and the Admins section.](https://cdn.sanity.io/images/lnrtvsvr/development/4a7fe035d3f4b69cc7e727ae1583fa4d27a06376-1600x784.jpg)
*Step 3: Community Guidelines and its + Create Guidelines button sit on the General tab.*
4. Set the criteria for auto-approved content, such as allowed content categories, required tags or topics, creator eligibility, and posting frequency limits.
5. Click **Save**.

## Apply platform safety policies

Platform safety policies apply across the entire network, so all content meets platform standards before it publishes. Safeguards include spam detection, duplicate content checks, copyright validation, and safety filtering.

To describe the conduct your own brand expects, go to **Settings** > **Brand Persona** and fill in **Code of conduct/behavioral expectations**, **Do's**, and **Don't**. ## Auto-approve trusted contributors (Optional)

You can limit automatic approval to verified creators or subscribers. This keeps quality up while trusted contributors publish faster. Trusted contributors include merchants with active subscription plans, approved creators in sponsored campaigns, and long-term community members.

| Contributor type | Approval flow |
| --- | --- |
| Verified creators | Automatic approval |
| Subscribed merchants | Automatic approval |
| New users | Manual moderation |

## Monitor the results

After you turn on automatic approval, monitor moderation outcomes to check that your guidelines work. Track auto-approved content volume, flagged content rate, moderation queue size, and brand safety incidents.

1. Go to **Moderate** > **Content Moderation**.
2. Select **Queued** to see items waiting for a moderator, or **History** to see past decisions with their reviewed date, reviewer, action, content type, content, and reason.
![The History tab of Content Moderation, listing reviewed posts and comments with Reviewed Date, Reviewed by, an Action such as Approved or Deleted, Content Type, Content, and a Reason such as Spam.](https://cdn.sanity.io/images/lnrtvsvr/development/a54e917561026d996df3fd613069c3700187a9b0-1600x778.jpg)
*Step 2: History lists each past decision with who made it and why.*

Use what you find to fine-tune your rules and improve accuracy over time:

- **Start with strict guidelines.** Launch with conservative rules, then loosen them as you build trust.
- **Use contributor tiers.** Auto-approve trusted contributors first, before you expand to more users.
- **Audit automation regularly.** Review flagged content to refine the rules.
- **Combine automation with sampling.** Spot-check automatically approved content from time to time.

## Where auto-approved content appears

Once approved, content can appear in community feeds, homepage discovery modules, sponsored campaign placements, partner network placements, and mobile app community tabs. In **Curate** > **Activity**, the **Approved** tile counts approved content.

![The Activity page in Curate with tiles for Awaiting to post, Processing, Scheduled to post, Approved, which is selected, and Rejected, above a list of imports labeled Social Import and Direct Import.](https://cdn.sanity.io/images/lnrtvsvr/development/f75ff9e669cbc83b6c185bb270e3e3ec03b0cfa4-1600x775.jpg)
*The Approved tile counts approved content.*

## Examples

| Scenario | Checks that must pass | Where it publishes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A food delivery platform's restaurants subscribe to a video promotion plan and upload videos. | The campaign hashtag appears, the merchant's subscription is active, and the content references a restaurant. | Local community feeds |
| A CPG brand runs a sponsored recipe campaign with creators. | The campaign hashtag appears, the product is visible in the video, and no prohibited terms appear. | The campaign, where hundreds of creator videos publish instantly |
| A travel platform runs destination communities where users post travel clips. | Location tags match the community, the content is video, and safety policies are met. | The destination feed and discovery surfaces |
